What the Minions Taught Me
One of my all-time FAVORITE movies is Despicable Me. Who wouldn’t love a movie with a bad guy who turns good, saves the world, adopts three adorable little girls, and of course has a whole slew of little yellow minions?
If I had to pick my favorite thing about Despicable Me it would most definitely be the minions! I am obsessed with those endearing, yellow, pill-shaped guys. They not only bring cuteness and humor to the film, but they have taught me four important life lessons:
The minions are unfailingly loyal to their leader Gru and also to each other. Countless times they are shown lending a hand to another minion or going above and beyond to help Gru. For instance, when Gru was broke in the beginning of the movie they rallied together to donate their own money to him.
They remind me to be loyal and charitable to my loved ones at all times and to help others in need.
2. Dance it out
If anyone knows how and when to dance, it would be the minions. When they are excited, happy, or celebrating, they are not afraid to just break into dance.
3. Enjoy every moment
The minions know how pleasurable it is to step back and enjoy the moment. Those little creatures know how to make every task fun and memorable.
4. Be yourself
Lastly, if there is one main thing the minions have taught me, it is to BE YOURSELF! Sure they look different (being small and bright yellow), and many times act hilariously, but that does not stop them from doing what they love. They do not worry what other people think of them
We too must love ourselves and feel proud of the men and woman we are! We all have unique personalities, appearances, lives, and souls. God made each and every one of us in His image and likeness including preborn children who are human beings, just like you and me. We must embrace our individuality and give thanks for it.
While the minions are obviously NOT human beings with a soul like you and me, they do teach very valuable lessons. If we watch their charismatic personalities and their behaviors, we can learn a thing or two about being true to our loved ones and to ourselves. And we will smile as we watch them!
