Cree Erwin, 24, died this summer, just three days after her Planned Parenthood abortion.

Hours before her death she visited an emergency room complaining of abortion complications. Then in the early morning hours of July 3, she passed away in her mother’s bed in Battle Creek, Michigan. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and her one-year-old son during this painful time.

Planned Parenthood is at fault

Abortionist Laura Denise Castleman of Planned Parenthood’s Kalamazoo facility provided Erwin with a prescription for a pain medication. It is suspected that Castleman also performed the abortion, but that has yet to be verified.

What’s even more concerning is that Castleman’s Drug Control Location License for the Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood expired on January 31, 2016. In Michigan, state law requires that “medical providers must obtain a Drug Control Location License for every facility where they routinely dispense drugs.”  This means that Castleman prescribed medication for Cree Erwin while possessing an expired license.

Under investigation

The Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood is under investigation not only by pro-life leaders, but by the Battle Creek Police Department as it awaits the results of Erwin’s autopsy.

On September 10, 2015, this same Planned Parenthood called an ambulance when a 15-year-old abortion patient struggled to breathe. However, the abortion worker asked the ambulance to come with no lights or sirens, despite the young girl’s life-threatening condition. Something is definitely wrong with this picture.

Speaking out

Pro-life leaders are speaking out demanding that this facility be shut down. Catherine Davis, founding core member of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition; Cheryl Sullenger, senior vice president of Operation Rescue; and Lynn Mills of Pro-Life Detroit all spoke to Life News. Mills clarified that “the Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood continued to operate without a proper facility license from September 2012 until January 2016.” How many more women and children must die before the state of Michigan does something?

We know Planned Parenthood facilities are slaughter houses responsible for the death of millions of babies, but do young women like Cree Erwin know that their lives are at risk too? Abortion kills the baby and harms the mother—mentally and physically—sometimes to the point of death.

Planned Parenthood does not empower women. It destroys them. It is using women as a sick way to gain profits. Through its unresponsive and irresponsible actions, it is quite clear that its staff could not care less about their licenses, facilities, children, or women. Enough is enough.

UPDATE 4/19/17

Cree’s family, along with pro-lifers, is still speaking out against Cree’s death. A day before Cree’s death an ultrasound found a blood clot and baby body parts still inside her. Cree’s brother Tyler Erwin said he knew that Cree was in pain both mentally and physically after her botched abortion. Tyler stated in an interview that “Planned Parenthood is ravaging these women.” Life Defenders will continue sharing this story as we fight for justice for Cree.
